LEFTO EARLY BIRD | be

A bold tastemaker with an incredible ear who has been tirelessly looking for new sounds, pushing forward up-and-coming talents, curating nights, and hosting thousands of radio shows, for over two decades. Lefto doesn’t have a day off. No one embodies more the words passion and devotion than Lefto. From his remix album on Blue Note in the early 2000s, his passion for jazz and hip-hop only got stronger over time. The way he fusions styles in his DJ set is remarkable, and it got him recognition and respect from the likes of Gilles Peterson, a master at this fusion of styles. Never followed any hype, the Belgian native has an appetite for new music stronger than ever. Every Sunday he turns the Parc Royal in Brussels into a mini-rave with his “Think Outside The Kiosk” weekly show. He goes far and wide across the electronic music spectrum, with a dynamic style touching every genre with finesse. May he continue down that path and may we have many many more years of Lefto’s goodness.

RED D | be

On the DJ block since 1992 – although a very small block in the first 10 years – if you are an amateur in that big play we call nightlife, chances are you either danced, got drunk, or got annoyed while Red D was playing some records. Behind the decks and throwing parties since the Earle 90s, Red D is mostly known for his We Play House label and many collaborations for FCL. A child of the Cherry Moon as he calls himself, Red D has been DJ’ing for as long as he himself can remember and he feels just as much at ease playing all-nighters by himself as he does going back-to-back with Kerri Chandler on keyboards and Belgium’s finest singer Lady Linn next to him. The knowledge from the past feeds the present and takes things into the future. That is how Red D treats DJ’ing and A&R duties for his We Play House Recordings label, which has been a steady source of quality house music for well over 10 years now. Helping launch the career of his friend San Soda – with whom he forms the acclaimed FCL outfit – the label has been a home for a diverse range of house luminaries including Kai Alcé, Reggie Dokes, Kiani & His Legion, Russ Gabriel, and many many more.
